🕊️ ALL THINGS ARE READY — The Wedding Feast of the King’s Son

Text: Matthew 22:1-14

Introduction

The above parable was from our Lord Jesus about a wedding feast organised by a king for his son. It was a great banquet meant to be attended by eminent personalities in the society. You can imagine how great the occasion will be if such a highest authority is your father and he is sponsoring a banquet for you. But it was unfortunate that the eminent dignatories refused the invitation. The King sent for some other guests who even maltreated the King’s messengers.Beloved, let me show you something powerful today. Your Father is not an ordinary person. He is not a small figure in the community. He is THE KING. That means there is nothing you need for this ceremony that cannot be supplied. All things are His. Ps.24: 1 says The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof. All power, all authority, all resources, all materials—everything you need, the King can provide. He is a sufficient father. He is not inviting you because of what he will get from you but will rather bless you from his abundant resources. When you receive an invitation from such a person, you must never take it lightly. It is not just a card—it is an honor. Think about it: if the Governor of your State or you, or the President of your country calls you to come to his ceremony—what a privilege that would be! People would dress their best, they will arrive early, and count it the greatest honor of their lives. It is a noble invitation. The King of Kings Himself has sent you an invitation. He is calling you to come to the wedding feast of His Son! What a privilege! What an honor! To be invited into the presence of the Lord God Almighty!  

⏰ WHY ARE YOU DELAYING?

Why do you doubt coming? What are you waiting for? Are you saying, “I am not yet ready” — so you delay? People do this in earthly things, too: if a program says 10 AM, you think, “They won’t start early. I’ll wait till 11, or maybe 11:30 before I go.” But the King still sent a reminder to his guests telling them : “ALL THINGS ARE READY! Come to the marriage feast!” — Matthew 22:4 Everything is prepared. The oxen are killed. The fatlings are ready. The table is set. God is waiting for you to come in time. He is ready — He is calling you to come and partake in the feast!  

⚠️ THE INDIFFERENCE OF THE NOBLE GUESTS

Matthew 22:5-6

“But they made light of it and went their ways… The rest seized His servants, treated them spitefully, and killed them.” – One went to his farm — business and possessions6 one went to his merchandise — career and money making ventures;- Some went to other ceremonies — distractions and lesser things or relaxation centres- They ignored the invitation — took it with levity;- They even mistreated and killed the King’s messengers — they rejected God’s word and His prophets They said, “I have bought a field, I must go see it.” “I have bought five yoke of oxen, I go to test them.” “I have married a wife, therefore I cannot come.” They treated the King’s invitation as something common—something they could push aside for lesser things. Think about this: if an earthly king sends for you and you say, “Let me consult my oracle to see if I should go”—and your oracle says “no” while the King says “come”—you are dead! You are in serious trouble! How much more, then, when the King of heaven says “Come,” and we turn away? Verse 7: The King was enraged. He sent out His armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. God is patient — but His patience is not forever. He is waiting for repentance, but judgment comes when mercy is refused.

  🛣️ GO TO THE HIGHWAYS — BRING THEM IN!

Matthew 22:9 —

“Go therefore to the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding feast.” The proud and the mighty said “no” — so God said: “Go out to the highways! Bring them in! As many as you find — good and bad — bring them! My house must be filled!”

📍 WHO ARE THE PEOPLE IN THE HIGHWAY?

They are the ordinary ones. The overlooked. The ones the world calls foolish, weak, low, and nothing. The Bible says: “God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty.” — 1 Corinthians 1:27 They are the ones who didn’t have the right clothes, the right shoes, the right status. The ones who weren’t on anyone’s important list. We know what it is to be unsure of tomorrow. Unsure of our next meal. We remember those days — going out with nothing but a spoon in our pocket, just in case there was food somewhere. We wouldn’t rush to sit down at first — we’d wait outside, watch, make sure there was enough, eat little by little, because we never knew when the next meal would come. That is who we are — people of the highway. We don’t come with pride. We don’t come with excuses. We come with gratitude! – The rich said: “I have a farm, I have business, I cannot come.”- We say: “We have nothing — but YOU have invited US! What an honor!”- They took the invitation lightly — we cherish it like gold! We appreciate the King’s calling because we know we don’t deserve it. That is why we honor Him. That is why we come. And look what happened: “And the wedding was filled with guests.” — Matthew 22:10 The first guests lost their seats — but WE took their place! The religious people said no → the sinners said yes! The proud walked away → the humble ran in! The busy made excuses → the hungry came and feasted! Nobody else will take your seat — but YOU must not refuse it! If you say no, God will find someone else from the highway to take your place. The King’s table will not be empty.  

👑 THE KING CAME IN TO SEE THE GUESTS

My prayer for you today: May you never be among those who despise the King’s invitation! May you never treat it as common, boring, or monotonous! This is not a routine event — this is the greatest honor of your life! When the King arrived at the banquet, He did something personal — He came in to SEE the guests. He walked among them. He welcomed each one. He looked into their faces. He was shaking hands, saying: “You are welcome! You are welcome to my wedding ceremony!” Can you go and shake hands with your neighbor right now and say: “You are welcome to the wedding ceremony of the King!” And as He walked through, He was checking something very important.  

👗 THE WEDDING GARMENT — IT WAS GIVEN FREELY

Here is the beautiful secret: The King provided the wedding clothes for everyone — FREE of charge! They did not pay for it. They did not bring it from home. Someone asked: “What is your size?” — and they gave it to them. They put it on. It fit perfectly. The King did not want anyone coming in wretchedly dressed. Your Father, before the wedding, had prepared uniform for all — and nobody paid for it! Revelation 19:6-8 says: “And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude… saying, ‘Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.’ And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.” You enter as you are — but you do not remain as you are. You receive what the King provides. To refuse the garment is to say: “I don’t need Your grace. I am good enough on my own.”  

⚠️ “FRIEND, WHERE IS YOUR WEDDING GARMENT?” Matthew 22:11-13:

“But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment. So he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into the outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'”

This man: –

✅ Accepted the invitation — he came in

❌ Rejected the provision — he refused the garment

❌ Thought his own clothes were good enough — pride

❌ Was speechless when questioned — no defense, no excuse

You cannot say: “I dress the way I like.” If you enter the King’s house the way you like, you will not remain the way you came. You put on what the King provides.

The garment is free — but it is required.

Many will say “Lord, Lord” on that day — but they tried to enter on their own terms, not God’s. You cannot blame God when He has already given you everything you need.

  🎯 FINAL MESSAGE — ALL THINGS ARE READY

The King is not postponing the invitation. The parties are ready. The food is prepared. The lights are on. The King is waiting. The Son is waiting. You don’t need fine clothes — the King will give you the wedding garment!You don’t need shoes — His grace will carry you in!You don’t need status — His invitation is your qualification! Don’t say: “I am not ready.”Don’t say: “I have nothing to bring.”Just say: “Lord, here I am — I am coming!” The voice of heaven is crying out today: “ARE YOU READY?”Are you ready to come out? Are you ready to put aside your own garments — your pride, your works, your excuses — and receive what the King has prepared for you? “Come, for all things are now ready.” — Luke 14:17

The King is calling YOU — the people of the highway. This is YOUR moment. This is YOUR invitation. Don’t let anyone take your seat. COME! ALL THINGS ARE READY!
